Correa: “The President Put Himself Before The Country.”

Washington, DC - Congressman Lou Correa (D-CA-46), a Member of the House Judiciary Committee, released the following statement after being presented evidence of Presidential misconduct by Members of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.

Rep. Correa said, “Our democracy is under attack. In 2016, we were deliberately and systematically attacked by Russia. Their goal was to plant discord and division. They were successful. As we approach the 2020 elections, preventing foreign interference must be at the forefront of our minds and actions. A nation without free elections is not free at all.

“That is why the President’s willingness to invite foreign interference into our elections is so alarming. The bottom line is that the President of the United States improperly used the powers of his office to coerce a foreign power into investigating his political rival—an action that would only benefit himself. President Trump freely admitted to this on the White House lawn when he publicly asked both Ukraine and China to help him investigate his political foes."
